Niantic has officially announced a series of exciting updates to Shadow Raids and Max Battles in Pokémon GO. These changes aim to give Trainers around the world more flexibility and greater access to powerful encounters—no matter where they are.
Beginning Monday, May 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. PDT (GMT -7), during the Crown Clash: Taken Over event, Trainers will be able to join Shadow Raids remotely using a Remote Raid Pass. This long-awaited feature will remain active permanently, even after the event ends.
Key details:
Also starting May 13, 2025, the daily Remote Raid limit will increase from 5 to 10 raids per day. This applies to all Remote Raids, including Shadow Raids. During special events, this limit may be temporarily increased even further.
One week later, on Monday, May 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. PDT, just before Gigantamax Machamp Max Battle Day, Trainers will be able to participate in Max Battles remotely for the first time. To join, you’ll need a Remote Raid Pass and the standard amount of Max Particles.
What’s changing:
Additionally, the Max Particle inventory limit will increase from 1,000 to 1,500. This cap may also be boosted during select events in the future.
To celebrate the new changes, a temporary increase to the Remote Raid limit will be in effect from Saturday, May 24 at 5:00 p.m. to Sunday, May 25, 2025 at 8:00 p.m. PDT. During this period, Trainers will be able to do up to 20 Remote Raids per day.
These updates mark a significant step toward making high-level raids and battles more accessible and rewarding for all Trainers. Whether you’re facing off against Shadow Pokémon or taking on towering Max Raid bosses, you’ll now have more ways to participate—both locally and globally.
So grab your Remote Raid Passes, power up your team, and get ready for even more action in Pokémon GO!
Stay tuned for more updates and events, and happy raiding!
