A branching Timed Research story has Trainers choose Chespin, Fennekin, or Froakie.
Your choice determines which GO Pass: Mega Finale rewards you receive and which Kalos first partner Pokémon Mega Evolution rewards you’ll work toward. Once you complete that Timed Research you get GO Pass: Mega Finale, starting Monday, August 31, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. local time.
A different Mega-Evolved Pokémon takes over Mega Raids each day of the week.
Mega Raids make up the majority of raids during Mega Ascension — Seasonal Raid Bosses may also appear during this time.
Pokémon caught from Mega Raids during the event may have a Mega Evolution–themed Special Background. If you’re lucky, you may encounter a Shiny one!
Mega Latias and Mega Latios may also appear in Mega Raids throughout the event.
GO Pass: Mega Finale is available from Monday, August 31 to Sunday, September 6, 2026 — it spans both Mega Ascension and the Mega Finale weekend.
Progress through the free track to earn rewards including encounters with your chosen partner, Link Charges, Candy, Stardust, XP and enough Mega Energy to Mega Evolve your chosen partner once.
Trainers who upgrade to GO Pass Deluxe: Mega Finale earn additional rewards: an increased chance to encounter certain Shiny event Pokémon and Mega Raid Bosses, additional Candy, Candy XL and XP from Mega Raids, a Kalos first partner Pokémon–inspired avatar shirt, and enough Mega Energy to level their chosen partner to Super Max Level.
After Rank 100, Trainers can continue earning repeat bonus rewards up to Rank 600.
