The 10th Anniversary Celebration runs from Wednesday, August 12, at 4:00 p.m. PDT to Sunday, September 6, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. local time. Free Timed Research leads to an encounter with a Mewtwo with maxed-out stats and a Special Background — and that Mewtwo also has the third Mega Level unlocked for Mega Mewtwo Y.

This Timed Research expires. Its tasks must be completed and their rewards claimed before Sunday, September 6, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. local time.

Complete the free Timed Research to encounter a Mewtwo with maxed-out stats and a Special Background.

Trainers around the world can claim it as part of the 10th anniversary celebration — and if you’re lucky, the Mewtwo you encounter may be Shiny.

Trainers who caught a Mewtwo at the in-person Times Square event on July 9 will receive a Mewtwo with different stats and different rewards. Mewtwo with a Times Square background will be available again at some point in the future.

Complete it to earn a Master Ball, Mega Mewtwo Y Mega Energy, and an encounter with a Mewtwo with maxed-out stats and a Special Background.

Trainers who caught a Mewtwo at the in-person Times Square event on July 9 receive different rewards: for the “Catch 10 Pokémon” task they get 30 Mewtwo Candy instead of a Master Ball, and the Mewtwo encounter has different stats.
