Celebrate PokémonXP and the 2026 Pokémon World Championships in Pokémon GO! The event runs from Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, August 30, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. local time, and it is split into two halves with their own wild encounters and raids.

  • PokémonXP — Tuesday, August 25 at 10:00 a.m. to Friday, August 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. local time.
  • 2026 Pokémon World Championships — Friday, August 28 at 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, August 30, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. local time.

Two new costumed Pokémon debut: a Pikachu wearing a Cosmog-themed spacesuit and the World Championships 2026 Pikachu — both of which can be Shiny. The World Championships themselves take place in San Francisco, California, and watching the streams earns Timed Research through Twitch Drops.

Crowning a World Champion!

The 2026 Pokémon World Championships take place from August 28 to 30, 2026, in San Francisco, California.

The top qualifying Pokémon GO players from around the globe compete to determine who will be crowned the 2026 Pokémon GO World Champion. Among other prizes, the champion receives the World Champion 2026 outfit for their avatar.

Tune in and watch all the action beginning at 9:00 a.m. PDT each day — Day 1 and Day 2 on the Pokémon GO Twitch channel, Day 3 on the Pokémon Twitch channel. Watching the livestreams also earns Timed Research and other rewards through Twitch Drops.

2026 Worlds Tee

Keep your eyes on the broadcast — a code for the 2026 Worlds Tee (Green) is displayed during the World Championships stream and can be redeemed globally. A red version of the same tee is handed out at the World Championship venue through a scavenger hunt.

World Championships battlegrounds return in the GO Battle League

In celebration of the 2026 Pokémon World Championships, the GO Battle League features a different arena and background battle music between Monday, August 24 at 12:00 p.m. PDT and Sunday, August 30, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PDT.

Twitch Drops — Timed Research

Watch and earn rewards from PokémonXP and the 2026 World Championships, from Friday, August 28 at 9:00 a.m. to Sunday, August 30, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. Pacific Time.

Each Timed Research unlocks after the listed watch time on the official streams. Day 1 and Day 2 run on the Pokémon GO Twitch channel, Day 3 on the Pokémon Twitch channel.

  • Trainers automatically receive GO Pass: PokémonXP & 2026 Worlds on Tuesday, August 25, at 10:00 a.m. local time.
  • Collect GO Points and rank up through Sunday, August 30, at 8:00 p.m. local time.
  • From Saturday, August 29 at 12:00 a.m. to Sunday, August 30 at 7:59 p.m. local time, there's no daily limit on the GO Points you can earn.
  • Rewards unlocked in the GO Pass expire on Tuesday, September 1, at 7:59 p.m. local time — claim them before they're gone.

Complete Pass Tasks to rank up and earn encounters with event-themed Pokémon. Trainers who upgrade to the GO Pass Deluxe also earn the 2026 Worlds/PokémonXP Backpack, an encounter with Zapdos, additional encounters with event-themed Pokémon, and more goodies. The Zapdos encountered through this GO Pass has a wider variance of Attack, Defense and HP, and you might even encounter a Shiny one.
