To celebrate 10 years of Pokémon GO, first partner Pokémon from every region take the spotlight! From Tuesday, July 21 at 10:00 a.m. to Monday, July 27, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. local time, catch rotating first partners, take on party-hat costumed raids, and pick up a Masterwork Research that leads to Shiny Shaymin.

  • Rotating first partners — Kanto/Johto/Hoenn, then Sinnoh/Unova/Kalos, then Alola/Galar/Paldea appear in the wild across the week, and they may have a team-specific Special Background.
  • Party-hat raids — Grimer wearing a party hat in one-star raids, plus Raticate, Nidorino, Gengar and Wobbuffet wearing party hats in three-star raids.
  • Masterwork Research: Glimmers of Gratitude — a paid research story that leads to an encounter with Shiny Shaymin.
  • GO Pass: 10th Anniversary, boosted catch XP that climbs from 6× to 10× as the week goes on, and evolve-exclusive Charged Attacks for Grass-, Fire- and Water-type first partners.

A new costumed Professor Willow's assistant Pikachu appears in one-star raids throughout Ultra Unlock — through Monday, July 27 at 8:00 p.m. local time — and you can complete Professor Willow's Birthday Research for an encounter with it. If you're lucky, you may find a Shiny one.

For US$4.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you can pick up a Masterwork Research story, Glimmers of Gratitude, which leads to an encounter with Shiny Shaymin.

To receive the Masterwork Research, you must open Pokémon GO at some point during the event. After you've received it, you can complete it at any time — it's intended to be completed over a long period.

Trainers who have already obtained the Masterwork Research story Glimmers of Gratitude cannot purchase it again. Niantic hasn't detailed the individual research steps yet — we'll update this page as soon as they're available.
