Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Global is FREE for the first time! Trainers around the world can join the celebration on the weekend of July 11–12, 2026.

  • Dates: Saturday, July 11 – Sunday, July 12, 2026
  • Event hours: 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. local time each day
  • Total event gameplay: nine event hours per day — an extra hour compared to past GO Fest weekends
  • Ticket: FREE for all Trainers logged in during the event weekend

Highlights

  • Zeraora, the Thunderclap Pokémon, makes its Pokémon GO debut through Free Special Research
  • Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y debut in Pokémon GO — including their Shiny forms
  • Six themed habitats rotate every three hours across both days
  • Pikachu wearing Team Instinct, Team Mystic and Team Valor hats appear globally for the first time
  • Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle wearing a Pikachu visor make their debut

Free Special Research — Zeraora Debut
Research

For the first time in Pokémon GO, Trainers will be able to complete Free Special Research to encounter Zeraora, the Thunderclap Pokémon!

Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Global is FREE for all Trainers logged in during the event weekend. Special Research leading to a Zeraora encounter is available to every Trainer at no cost — no ticket required.

The Special Research does not expire, allowing Trainers to complete it whenever they choose.

Trainers who attended Pokémon GO Fest 2026 in Tokyo, Chicago, or Copenhagen and already encountered Zeraora will receive Zeraora Candy instead.

Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y Debut

Mewtwo's Mega Evolutions, Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y, are coming to Pokémon GO during Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Global!

For the first time in Pokémon GO, Trainers will be able to encounter and battle Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y, the Mega Evolutions of the Genetic Pokémon Mewtwo. Shiny Mega Mewtwo X and Shiny Mega Mewtwo Y also make their debut.

Every Mewtwo caught from Super Mega Battles during Pokémon GO Fest: Global will have at least one Mega Level unlocked, with the possibility of Mega Level 2 or 3.

Branching Timed Research — Mega Mewtwo X or Mega Mewtwo Y
Research

During the event, Trainers will receive Branching Timed Research that allows them to choose their preferred encounter: either Mega Mewtwo X or Mega Mewtwo Y.

Mewtwo caught from Mega Mewtwo X raids will know the Fast Attack Counter. Mewtwo caught from Mega Mewtwo Y raids will know the Charged Attack Psystrike.

Mewtwo caught from these raids will have at least one Mega Level already unlocked.

Sunday Super Mega Raid — Mega Mewtwo Y

During the last part of Sunday's event hours, Super Mega Raid Battles featuring Mega Mewtwo Y will appear globally.

Mewtwo caught from Mega Mewtwo Y raids will know the Charged Attack Psystrike and have at least one Mega Level already unlocked.

Sunday Five-Star Raids

Five-Star Raid bosses rotate every three hours, following the Sunday habitat schedule. Enamorus (both formes) do not have Shiny forms available; all other Pokémon listed may appear as Shiny.

Regional availability: Buzzwole appears in the Americas and Greenland; Pheromosa in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India; Xurkitree in Asia-Pacific; Celesteela in the Southern Hemisphere; Kartana in the Northern Hemisphere; Stakataka in the Eastern Hemisphere; and Blacephalon in the Western Hemisphere.

10th Anniversary Special Backgrounds

To celebrate Pokémon GO's 10th Anniversary, some Pokémon caught during the celebration may appear with a special commemorative background.

  • Pokémon caught from five-star raids, Primal Raids and Mega Raids between July 6 and July 12, 2026 may have a commemorative 10th Anniversary–themed Special Background.
  • The Mewtwo caught after completing the Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y Super Mega Raids might have its own unique Special Background.

Live update: Trainers worldwide have already reached the first two Global Challenges — the rewards for these will be announced later.

Throughout the weekend, all Trainers work together on hourly Global Challenges. Complete an hour's challenge in time and a bonus is unlocked for the remainder of that three-hour habitat window.

The more Global Challenges completed across the weekend, the more later celebrations get boosted:

  • 15 challenges — boost the 10th Anniversary Party (July 21–27, 2026)
  • 30 challenges — boost the Water Festival (August 18–24, 2026)
  • 45 challenges — boost Super Mega Raid Day (August 22, 2026 · 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. local time)
