Grookey, the Chimp Pokémon, will be featured during January Community Day!
*While most bonuses are only active during the three-hour event period, these will be active from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. local time.
Bonuses
3× Stardust for catching Pokémon.
2× Candy for catching Pokémon.
2× chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive Candy XL from catching Pokémon.
Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event will last for three hours.
Take a few snapshots during Community Day for a surprise!
Lure Modules will last for one hour and may attract the featured Pokémon.*
One additional Special Trade can be made for a maximum of three for the day.*
Trades will require 50% less Stardust.*
Featured Attack
Evolve Thwackey (Grookey’s Evolution) during the event or up to four hours afterward to get a Rillaboom that knows the Charged Attack Frenzy Plant.

Attack Availability Update
Starting with the event and continuing afterward, Rillaboom will be able to learn the Charged Attack Drum Beating.
Drum Beating
- Trainer Battles: 60 power and lowers the opposing Pokémon’s Attack by one stage.
- Gyms and raids: 115 power

For US$1.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you can access the Grookey Community Day–exclusive Special Research. Complete this research for extra rewards, including:
- 3 encounters with Grookey that have a Special Background
- Additional encounters with Grookey
- 1 Premium Battle Pass

Lure Module Bonus
From 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. local time, Grookey will have a very high chance of appearing at PokéStops with active regular Lure Modules. Grookey attracted to these Lure Modules will still have an increased chance to be Shiny and may have a Special Background—giving you even more chances to encounter the featured Pokémon after event hours!
Field Research
January Community Day–themed Field Research will be available! Catch Grookey to earn rewards such as Stardust, Ultra Balls, additional Grookey encounters, and more!
You may even find Field Research that leads to encounters with Grookey that have a Special Background—if you’re lucky!
Community Day Ultra Box
The Community Day Ultra Box will be available for US$1.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency) and includes an event ticket and five Ultra Balls!

About Community Day
Community Day is a monthly event where a specific Pokémon appears much more frequently in the wild for a few hours. Players can catch this Pokémon, hunt for Shinies, and enjoy bonuses such as increased XP or Stardust. The Pokémon often learns a unique move during the event.
