There will be free Timed Research available around the GO Truck.

Wild Encounters - Citywide Gameplay
Trainers may find Poké Balls appearing on the map. Tapping a Poké Ball may reveal an encounter with one of these Pokémon in the wild.
Timed Research - Nationwide Bonus
Even if you can’t visit the GO Truck, you can still join the adventure!
Seven days before the GO Truck’s arrival in each city, the following will be available nationwide in that city’s country (UK, France, Spain, Netherlands, Germany).
Complete the Timed Research tasks to earn an encounter with Pikachu with summer flair.
